CreateSound is about enabling people young & old to make music, regardless of background and musical ability. Many people have untapped musical skills – sometimes lack of know-how with an instrument can be a barrier. We use music technology to help people get inspired and realise their musical potential.
We provide ALL the equipment to run courses & workshops including MacBook Pro laptops, keyboards, controllers, etc. This means learning centres don’t have to spend money on these things to try it out. We deliver on-site during your normal hours so the activity is highly accessible.
We deliver shorter courses in affordable bite-size chunks that can be added on to as a student’s needs develop. We provide budget-friendly taster courses for schools and community projects. We customise courses to suit funds available.
We use a model that adapts to the challenges faced by the music industry. We employ skilled producers and musicians as tutors. Supplementary teaching income helps them stay active in their trade. Students benefit from being taught by real-world practitioners with the freshest content.

After a number of years spent as a freelance studio engineer and tutor, Gavin Timlin set up CreateSound in 2011. The idea was to provide a mobile music production teaching service in Dublin, supplying all equipment needed. Initially courses were geared toward producers and DJs, however the service quickly expanded to schools and community projects. The supply of equipment and prospect of making electronic music represented a great opportunity for young people. Gavin became one of 4 recognised Ableton Live Certified Tutors in Ireland in 2011, and the operation as a whole became recognised as an Ableton Certified Centre in 2014. CreateSound’s main hubs are in Dublin and Belfast with tutors operating out of Dublin, Belfast and Ballymena.
